For animal lovers, the area is home to Black Bear, Mule Deer, Mountain Lions, Coyotes,Raccoons, Marmots, Pine Marten, Golden Mantel, Ground Squirrels, Chickarees (cone cutters), Tree Squirrels, Stellar Jays, Bald Eagles and Osprey. The forest is open range to cattle, so watch for them on the highway.
